Have an Egg-cellent Easter

Finally spring is here — yesterday was the first official day of spring.  I know, we could still have some "funky" weather but the past couple of weeks have shown that the worst of winter is behind us.  The birds are chirping, the sun is shining and my flowers are poking through the ground.  All of this reminds me that Easter is right around the corner.  This card is from this month's Stamp of the Month Class which featured the For Peep's Sake stamp set.
Egg-cellent EasterThe base of the card is Coastal Cabana.  I used a strip of the Best Year Ever DSP and Best Year Ever Ribbons which are both Sale-a-Bration items that you can choose FREE when you place a $50 order by March 31st.  The stamp with the chicks actually has three chicks together — I cut my stamp apart so I have three separate chicks that I can use by themselves or I can still line up all three and stamp them together.

I inked up the chicks with So Saffron ink but before stamping I colored their feet with the Calypso Coral marker — then stamp in the lower right corner of the Whisper White cardstock.  I colored the ribbon on the right bunny chick with the Coastal Cabana marker, their beaks with the Calypso Coral marker and dotted their eyes with the Project Life Pen.

Look closely at the Whisper White layer — I used the row of eggs to fill in the white space.  I stamped five rows of eggs using VersaMark ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.

For the tag embellishment piece, I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measured 2" x 4 1/4".  I used the Ornate Tag Punch to punch both ends of the cardstock, then I stamped the words with Coastal Cabana ink.  Next I used a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock that measured 2 1/8" x 4 1/8" and punched both ends of it — this is a little tricky because the channel of the punch fits a 2" strip of cardstock, so you have to go over the channel to force the cardstock into the punch.  Now you have a border of Calypso Coral around the Whisper White tag.  I added dimensionals to pop the tag just a bit.

I hope you are having fun making Easter cards.
