First Communion

Yesterday we celebrated my oldest grandson's First Communion.
This was a very special day for me because I didn't think I would ever get
to see these two grandchildren receive their sacraments.
Both of the boys were born in Las Vegas and then moved to
Anchorage, Alaska six years ago.  We saw them once in February or March
and then my daughter and the boys would come "home" for four-six weeks
every summer.  Last June they moved "back home" — they live 40 minutes from me.
I couldn't be happier and yesterday proved that once again as we got to
watch Scott receive his First Communion — what a special day.
This is the card that we gave him after the big event.
Bubba CommunionThis was a card that I received in a swap and I thought it was perfect for the day.
Many elements of the card have been retired but I still wanted to share it with you today, you could easily swap out designer papers, ribbon, embossing folders and the Blessed by God stamp set would be a perfect replacement.
Thank you for letting me share my special day.

Polka Dot Pieces

Polka Dot Pieces is a retiring stamp set that is just adorable.
I haven't used it much but as I was looking through my box of stamp sets that
are going away and saw this I knew it was perfect for a
Fast & Fabulous card.
Polka Dot PiecesI used Lost Lagoon for the base of the card and Moonlight DSP for the next layer.
The stem and leaves are stamped with Mossy Meadow and the flower pieces are stamped with Lost Lagoon.
This was the favorite card of the night.

Mixed Bunches

Mixed Bunches is another stamp set that is retiring along with the coordinating
Blossom Blossom.  There are so many possibilities with this combination.

The base of this card is Whisper White with a layer of Basic Black.  Then I used a layer of Bermuda Bay that I used the Beautiful Baroque Embossing Folder on.
I stamped two of the flower images from the Mixed Bunches stamp set using Bermuda Bay ink and punched out with the coordination Blossom Punch.
I added a Something Borrowed Embellishment to the center of one flower and a round sticker from the Itty Bitty Accents Stickers set for the other flower.
I used the Happy Birthday Wished from Petite Pairs for the greeting and punched it out using the 1 3/8" circle punch.
This is another very quick and simple card that has a great wow effect.
