Framed Butterflies

I showed you a card earlier this month using the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the coordinating Butterflies Thinlits and told you how much I am enjoying working with this set.  I laugh at this statement because when I first saw this stamp set it definitely was not on my wish list.  I didn't even order the thinlits on my first order from the Occasions Catalog.  All those little "holes" scared me.  I didn't want to have to sit and poke at all of them.  Well, I started seeing samples using both items — still wasn't thrilled with the stamp set but I did order the thinlits, a few more sample cards and then Amanda, a team member, showed me a project she has designed and I knew that I "HAD TO HAVE THE STAMP SET".  Here is my take on Amanda's project.
Butterfly BasicsI started with a 12" x 12" frame I bought at the "M" store.  The images are stamped on a piece of Very Vanilla 12" x 12" cardstock.  I used So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso inks and markers for the stamped images.  I used Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock for the two larger butterflies.

Tip for cutting out the butterflies — use Dryer Sheets.  That's right, I said Dryer Sheets.
Here's your Big Shot "sandwich" — Magnetic Platform, Acrylic Plate, 1 or 2 layers of Dryer Sheets (needs to be brand new one — can purchase a box for a $1 at the Dollar Store — I like Unscented ones), cardstock, wax paper, thinlit, Acrylic Plate.  Now run through the Big Shot about 3 times — just go forward, backward and forward.  Separate your layers — peel the butterflies off the dryer sheet — most of the little pieces stick to the dryer sheet.  Those that are still in the butterfly can be "flicked" out very easily.  LOVE THIS.

Everyone was very happy with their completed piece of framed art.  Roseann commented this was the best thing she ever made.

Next month's framed art piece is using the Sheltering Trees stamp set — I can't wait.

Polka Dot Balloons

The Celebrate Today bundle includes the Celebrate Today stamp set and the Balloon Framelits.  I love that we can quickly cut out lots of balloons.  This card is one I made at the Shoebox Swap last month.
Celebrate BalloonsThe balloons were cut out with the framlits and then I stamped the dots with VersaMark ink and embossed with White Embossing Powder.  The base of the card is Blushing Bride with a layer of Whisper White that was embossed with the Large Polka Embossing Folder.  A Soft Sky banner was added down the center front.  The balloons are scattered in a bunch on the card front with dimensionals.  I stamped Celebrate with Island Indigo ink and adhered to the front of the card and added a blue button to finish the card off.

Painted Petal Point Card

I love special fold cards — they seem like such a treat.  When I was at the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference last month a fellow demonstrator, Pat Ertman, gave my sister, Tina Rappe, a card to say thank you for a little gift Tina sent to Pat.  The card Tina received had this fold.  I thought it was great to share at my Fast & Fabulous Card Class last week.
Painted Petals Point FoldYes, this card really is Fast & Fabulous.  The base of the card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" of Melon Mambo.  The designer paper point are from the Back to Black DSP.  I cut the DSP 2 1/2" x 4" and scored the long edge at 1/2".  Then you create the point by folding the top corners at an angle to touch the score line.

Adhere the 1/2" scored edge to the back of the Basic Black layer and attach to the Melon Mambo card base.  Add a layer of Wild Wasabi which I stamped the inside words on.

I used the Painted Petals stamp set to stamp the leaves/stems in Wild Wasabi ink and the flower petals in Melon Mambo ink.

Here is the inside of the card:
