My Hero

Today’s card is an extra special card.
It features the Ronald McDonald House
stamp set called My Hero.

The person I had in mind when I designed
this card is definitely MY HERO — my
hubby, Tony.

Yesterday was our 37th anniversary.
Where does the time go — how can we
be married 37 years already.
Most days I think I’m still 37 — wait
my kids are getting close to that age – YIKES!!

HeroI loved the color combination on this
card — Dapper Denim base with a
layer of Cajun Craze and then a layer
of Moroccan Nights designer paper.
I added a 3″ circle of Cajun Craze that
I cut using the Layering Circles framelits.
I also textured the circle using the
Boho Chic embossing folder.
I also embossed a strip of Dapper Denim
with the Woodgrain embossing folder.
I wrapped Copper Thread around this
strip many times so it would show up nice.
I inked the stamped with markers —
Cajun Craze and Dapper Denim and
punched out with the new Badge Punch.

Under the Weather

Last night the weather man had predicted
some bad storms in my area.  I had my
Stamp of the Month Class scheduled.
Thank goodness the weather man was
wrong — we did get a little rain but
nothing bad so we did get to have class.

This month’s class featured the
Ronald McDonald Houses stamp set
My Hero.
This is an adorable set that
covers eight different events — love it.

The first card we made goes along
with the weather but it’s a
different kind of weather.

Under WeatherWe started with a Smoky Slate base.
We added a layer of Basic Gray, then
Sweet Sugarplum and White.
On the White layer we stamped
lots of flowers with Sweet Sugarplum
ink and the Perpetual Calendar stamp set.
Next we stamped the umbrella top
on White cardstock with Sweet Sugarplum
ink and guess what — there is a framelit
set that coordinates with the umbrella
Umbrella Weather Framelits
No fussy cutting — YAY!!!
We stamped the umbrella handle with
Smoky Slate ink on Smoky Slate
cardstock and cut that out with the
framelits too.  Oh wait, don’t forget
to cut out two small and one large
Smoky Slate clouds.

How much fun is this?
Lots of layers but truly a quick card
to stamp and assemble.

Life’s Little Moments

It seems like life goes by way to quickly.
I am always busy with my day job and
then once home from that with my stamping
job (which I love), but time just flies by.
Yesterday I took the afternoon off from
both jobs.  Instead I picked up daughter
and her two sons and we went
strawberry picking.  The boys love to
pick the raspberries in our backyard so
I thought they would like this too.
They love the cherry jam my daughter
has been making and she wanted to try
her hand at strawberry jam.
She takes after my mom — she's becoming
a regular "Becky Homecky".

Here are some of the fun pictures from
our afternoon together.
Me with Boys
An awful picture of me but again life is too
short so I am trying to enjoy the moments
with all of the grand kids.
I am explaining to the boys what they
are looking for.

They are trying to decide if the berry is ripe.
Bubba with Berries
Shawn with Berries
I think they got the hang of it.
Berries
Look at those fabulous berries.
I think someone didn't want to set his
box down.  The boys were excited to
each get their own box of berries.
They started cleaning their own boxes
as soon as we got back to their house.
They were making smoothies from some
of the berries — yum.
Katie's Jam
My daughter made her first batch of
Strawberry Freezer Jam as soon as I left.

What a great afternoon.
Tomorrow it will be back to stamping again.
