Watercolor Pencils

Last night I held a class featuring the Watercolor Pencils.
These came out in the Occasions Catalog three weeks ago.
I told everyone to get them ordered because I was sure
they would be so popular they would go on backorder
right away.  Guess what — I was right.
As of 1:00 pm Central time TODAY the Watercolor
Pencils will be placed in NOT ORDERABLE status.
Stampin’ Up! is turning off the item number until
they have enough stock on the shelves to fill all
backorders and have enough left to fill future orders.
SO — YOU HAVE JUST A FEW HOURS LEFT TO
PLACE YOUR ORDER FOR THE WATERCOLOR PENCILS!!

On to my class.
This class was very popular
Watercolor Class
Look at everyone had at work.
I work at a Catholic high school during the day
and I’m friends with our art teacher, Erin.
I talked Erin in to teaching the class.
What better way to learn how to use the pencils
and get all the shading than from someone who
teaches art every day.
The class was a hit.
I even did my very first Facebook Live at the class.

Erin and I talked about the different papers
(Whisper White, Shimmery White and Watercolor Paper)
and how each paper gives you a different look.
We made three different cards — one with each paper.

We started with Watercolor Paper because it needed
a little time to dry.
Color Wash
We “scribbled” line with three different colors of pencils
Rich Razzleberry, Pacific Point and Bermuda Bay
Then we used an Aqua Painter to wash over the pencils
changing it to look like running ink.

Then we let it dry and stamped over the colors with
Happy Birthday stamp from Super Duper stamp set
with Stazon ink.

Window Box Die

By now I know you have all seen the Window Box Thinlits
in the Occasions Catalog!!!  Well check out today’s card
using the Window Box thinlits.  That’s right, I said CARD.

The open flower thinlit is cut from scrap paper
and used as a stencil — sponging Sweet Sugarplum
and Tip Top Taupe inks in the openings of the stencil.
When the stencil is removed, look how pretty it is.

Then use the thinlit with Tip Top Taupe cardstock
to cut out the flower pot — don’t you like the pretty
scallop edge.  Add a bit of the new Very Vanilla
1/4″ Satin Ribbon and a Falling in Love embellishment
for the perfect flower pot.
Stamp “Happy Birthday” from the coordinating
Window Shopping stamp set and you are done.
Window Box
You can vary the colors used to sponge for a
completely different look.
So pretty!!!

Everyday Hero

My adult children seem to be big into Super Heroes
and comic books lately.
The Everyday Hero is a perfect stamp set to
make some fun cards for them.

Look at all the fun details — the Batman “WOW” burst,
the city street full of buildings for the super heroes
to blast from but my favorite image is the sky rays.
I’m not sure if that is what you call them but that
image makes some very fun stamping.

Everyday HeroCard Base — 4 1/4″ x 11″ — score 5 1/2″
Whisper White — 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
stamp sky rays with Marina Mist
So Saffron — 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ bottom of Whisper White layer
stamp WOW banner with Daffodil Delight ink
Stamp WOW with Real Red ink
cut out with Paper Snips
Whisper White strip — stamp city buildings with Stazon
